In the villages of Najmouk, Girbawi, and Harm Rash, located between Qamishli and al-Hasaka, solar systems now supply the local water pumps used to extract clean drinking water. The construction of a fourth well in the village of Kharab Kurti is currently still underway. In this region in particular, the power supply has been repeatedly interrupted in recent years, making access to water extremely difficult.
With the installation of a total of twelve solar modules in the three villages, noticeable progress has now been made in improving the everyday lives of the local people. The project not only provides a solution to the acute water problem, but also offers ecological and economic advantages, as it relies on renewable, environmentally friendly energy sources.

Solar energy for clean drinking water
The second phase of our campaign “Solardarity – New Energy for Rojava” has been successfully completed thanks to your generous donations. In cooperation with medico international, our local partners – the Kurdish Red Crescent and the Ecology Council of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria – have installed solar-powered drinking water wells.
